The cost of a private investigation will vary depending on the type of investigation required. A private investigation firm can offer a variety of different types of investigations. These may be charged at a flat rate or an hourly rate. Locating a missing person through our firm will be a flat rate. The same goes for background checks and phone number checks. This is in contrast to surveillance or factual services which are charged at an hourly rate.

When an investigation firm gives you a cost where an hourly rate is used, there may be hidden charges. Some firms will charge a fee for travel to and from the job which includes charges for time and distance. There may be an administration fee or extra charges for the expenses occurred like parking, meals and GST.

How we charge you

We have found it best to charge one flat rate that incorporates all the extra costs that may be incurred during the investigation. This means there will be no hidden charges and it makes it easier for you to work out the cost of your investigation. Simply multiply the hours by the rate. This is easier for you to understand and to budget for.

So what would the total cost be? This is hard to judge as two jobs are never the same and people are unpredictable. A budget of $2,500 will get you 20-25 hours of surveillance. However you may not need to spend that much to get the evidence you need. We also refund unused portion of any investigation if we can get the evidence you need earlier.

The next thing you need to ask yourself is "What will be the cost of not hiring a private investigator, and not having the evidence you need?"
